Kindergarten at Calvary Christian Academy

Build a strong foundation for your child with our distinct learning model.

As your child approaches kindergarten, you know how important it is to find a school in the community that aligns with your family’s values.

You want them to build a Christ-centered academic foundation to prepare them for elementary school success. You’re also looking for a caring environment where your child will be encouraged spiritually, emotionally, and socially.

At Calvary Christian Academy, our private kindergarten program is designed to help shape your child’s heart and mind. Students discover God’s truth across each subject area and use the Bible as their primary source of knowledge and wisdom.

Learning Environment

An inviting, nurturing classroom setting

We partner closely with parents to create a challenging, encouraging environment that meets your kindergartner where they are. At CCA, the relational kindergarten environment ensures that each student is included and feels like a valuable contributor to the classroom. It also sets the tone for a strong elementary school experience. Kindergartners at CCA benefit from the following:

Meaningful relationships

Our 12:2 student-teacher ratio creates an environment where every kindergartner can be fully engaged and included in classroom activities. Each class is supported by a Homeroom Shepherd, a faculty member dedicated to the social, emotional, and spiritual development of their students.

Hands-on learning approach

Children learn best by doing. Experiential learning helps bring core subjects like phonics, guided reading, math, science, and social studies to life. As kindergartners grow in independence, solve problems, and share ideas during project-based activities, it ignites a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.

Fun, flexible environment

Students get plenty of opportunities to be outdoors while enjoying our natural playground or practicing learning readiness in the courtyard. Break-out learning spaces also offer a nice change of pace for our kindergarteners. Technology is limited to cultivate an active and engaging learning environment.

Kind, compassionate teachers

Our teachers demonstrate what it means to be an authentic follower of Jesus. They’re eager to share their passion for learning with every student. Our Educators and Homeroom Shepherds are servant leaders and spiritual mentors who truly care for your child.

Rich Academic Curriculum

Nurturing academic excellence rooted in biblical truth

At CCA, we teach from a biblical worldview. That means everything we do is designed to help our kindergartners understand themselves and the world around them in light of the truth revealed in God’s Word.

Your child will grow in their knowledge of God’s grace and discover how they fit into His story.

English Language Arts:

Our robust ELA program is built on the Science of Reading and incorporates individualized guided reading, strategy groups, Orton Gillingham intervention, and writing workshop. The proven Heggerty phonics curriculum sharpens students’ reading, spelling, and writing skills as they learn to hear the sounds in words. We use  Fountas & Pinnell for guided reading and Heinemann’s Units of Study curriculum for writing workshop.

Using the Everyday Mathematics curriculum, students are introduced to geometry, measurement, time, money, and graphing concepts. Each time a concept recurs within a unit, it is more complex and rigorous. These concepts lay a strong foundation for understanding and developing number sense.

Our kindergarten science program is based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Utilizing the Building Blocks of Science curriculum, we incorporate hands-on activities to engage and excite students about the world and the way God has created it.

Social Studies:

Our Social Studies curriculum explores topics such as community, citizenship, historical figures, holidays, and culture. Students discover how to apply what is learned across other subjects to serve the local and global community.

In addition to our core curriculum, students at CCA benefit from a well-rounded experience with engaging enrichment through World Language and Culture, Art, Music, and PE.

During our Gathering time each day, students come together to learn more about God and interact with His Word by reading the Bible, singing songs, and praying.

“The low teacher-to-student ratio, hands-on teaching and learning styles, as well as a focus on spiritual growth checked all the boxes for us! Our son is thriving and confident due to his safe, loving, and God-centered environment at CCA”

– Mary Eskew, kindergarten parent

We understand that safety is a top priority for parents when considering schools.

We’ve made significant investments to keep your child safe at CCA. This commitment starts with safety measures that include locked doors, surveillance cameras, and a security officer and sheriff’s deputy on campus at all times.
