Calvary Christian Academy is seeking a Homeroom Shepherd for the elementary school division. The Homeroom Shepherd is responsible for the provision of academic, biblical, and social and emotional support for students, working in collaboration with the classroom Educator. Most classroom sizes cap at 12 students, providing a 6:1 student-teacher ratio in our unique school model enabling our Educators and Shepherds to meet the academic and social/emotional needs of each student and help them to succeed.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Psychology, Education, or School Counseling. 1-2 years classroom experience or work in similar areas of endeavor and working with children preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Orton-Gillingham Educator Level (preferred)
- Training in experiential or personalized instructional methodology is desired
- Evidence of strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and technological skills
Experience and Training:
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in elementary education
- Possession of state licensure (preferred) or ACSI certification

Homeroom Shepherds have endless opportunities to help shape students’ minds, hearts, and souls by nurturing academic excellence rooted in biblical truth. CCA Homeroom Shepherds are expected to participate in extensive Professional Development opportunities to develop strategies for Spiritual Formation and Social Emotional growth, as well as lead small group academic instruction. Our Homeroom Shepherds will be members of a dedicated and supportive teaching team that functions cooperatively to serve students.
Knowledge and Skills:
- know all students, including their gifts and their challenges, and advocate for them
- lead Biblical curriculum (currently Summit Curriculum) during the Gathering time and partner with the Educator to facilitate Biblical integration in the classroom
- identify goals (social, emotional and spiritual) for success and monitoring progress towards established goals for individual students
- communicate with parents weekly
- attend all faculty meetings and Professional Development days that pertain to their continuing education as identified by the administration
Experience and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Counselor, seminary or ministry experience preferred

At Calvary Christian Academy, the Art Educator has endless opportunities to help shape students’ minds, hearts, and souls by nurturing artistic expression and excellence in visual terms, using skills and techniques consistent with school guidelines and to develop aesthetic understanding and appreciation of visual art.
Knowledge and Skills
- Discover and develop talents of students in the field of art
- Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history
- Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art
- Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
- Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities and accommodate a variety of instructional activities
- Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding and prepare progress reports
- Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community
- Model excellent communication skills with students, families, and staff
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Art or Art Education
- 3-5 years of teaching experience preferred

Experience and Training:
- Three years of secondary teaching experience (preferred)
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with subject area specialization
- Possession of state licensure in both subject area specialization
- Training in experiential and competency based instruction is desired
Substitute teachers will work as needed throughout the school year. Must be able to model a strong relationship with Jesus Christ in all student, staff, and family interactions.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; classroom teaching experience is preferred but not required.
